Mike Vick: Athlete.  Leader.  Dogfighter?
By Andrew McCarten, TheSportsStand.com (6/1/07)

ESPN recently aired a special on Sportscenter, shockingly depicting Mike Vick, QB of the Atlanta Falcons, as a big time player in the underground world of illegal dog fighting. ESPN’s source, who remained nameless and had his face covered and voice distorted in the interview, described Vick as “one of the heavyweights.” Vick’s home in Surry County, Virginia was raided on April 25. Things found were: 66 dogs, dog fighting pit, bloodstained carpet and other dogfighting paraphernalia.

This shocking revelation has come as yet another mark on Vick’s persona, after the infamous water bottle incident, and not to mention giving fans the finger. Dog fighting is a felony in all states but Wyoming and Idaho. The NFL released a statement saying : "Dog fighting is cruel, degrading, and illegal. We support a thorough investigation into any allegations of this type of activity. Any NFL employee proved to be involved in this type of activity will be subject to prompt and significant discipline under our personal conduct policy." When Vick was asked if he would exonerated, he replied with a surly “No comment.”
