Can the Mavericks be Stopped?

Riding
high with the best record in the NBA, at 51-9, they have exceeded all
expectations anyone put on them for this season. For the Mavericks it will
be a long shot t
o
break the record for most wins in a season, which was set by the Chicago
Bulls in the 1995-1996 season with 72 victories. The Mavericks have a jaw
dropping home record of 30-3, and are currently riding a 16 game winning
streak.
The Mavericks are led by leading
scorer Dirk Nowitzki, who averages 25.3 point per game. Josh Howard and
Jason Terry have also been vital parts in the Mavericks success this season.
The Mavericks average over 100 points a game every night, which is
impressive even by our standards. Even defensively the Mavericks are stout,
only giving up 92.2 points per game, even in this day an age where the
scoring is supposedly up in the NBA. When
a
team holds their opponent to just above 90 points, it is often something to
brag about.
With their remaining schedule, the Mavericks are bound to lose a few down the stretch, because they do play some hard team in some upcoming games. Following their 102-89 wins over the Nets, the Mavericks hit the road to play the Lakers, who are without a suspended Kobe Bryant. Upcoming tough games for the Mavericks include the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers. They also encounter the occasional cupcake games, as they play the Celtics and the Hawks and conclude the month with a home game against the Knicks.
April might not be so nice to them, as they play 6 out of 10 games away from home and they play very legitimate teams all fighting for a playoff spot. In conclusion, the Mavs will skate into the playoffs and try to finish what they started last year by ending the season with some hardware.
