The Yankees Announcers: Almost As Painful As the Team
By Andrew McCarten and John Janovsky, TheSportsStand.com (6/26/07)

If you have ever had the displeasure of sitting down and watching a Yankees game on the TV or the radio, you know what I am talking about. By far the two worst in the radio broadcasting industry, the games John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman broadcast can almost make you start hating baseball by listening for 9 innings. It really is painful to listen to Suzyn; half the time she is talking about nothing that has to do with baseball. Just to make matters worse; John Sterling has to be the most annoying announcer there is. He has those annoying home run calls, and they just keep getting worse and worse. I don’t know when he started this, but John if you are reading this, please stop! Some of his signature home run calls are “that ball is high, it is far, it is gone, it is an a-bomb from A-Rod! Now that is alright, but some of his other ones are just plain weird. “Robbie Cano don’t you know” “Jorge Juiced one”. Come on!  It’s ridiculous when I can’t even enjoy the game with this inept announcing duo. Suzyn goes off on completely non-baseball related tangents, and Sterling takes about 45 minutes to say something between pitches. They clearly need better announcers I mean can’t they come up with something better than “Ball game over! Yankees win! Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees win!” John has to say after every win. And who could forget Suzyn practically having a seizure as Roger Clemens announced he was coming back from Steinbrenner’s box. “RAAAWJAH IS COMING BACK! RAAAJAH CLEMENS IS A NEW YAWK YANKEEEEEEE!” Please if anybody from 880 WCBC is reading please get new announcers because Suzyn and John, as they say in the business, just are not cutting the mustard. So next times you’re watching the Yankees shut off the radio and do your own broadcast because God only knows that you will do better the John and Suzan
