Tom Glavine Reaches 300 Wins
By Justin Mairs, TheSportsStand.com (8/13/07)

Glavine is one of the 23 pitchers to get 300 wins in MLB and make it to the Hall of Fame.  He has had 58 out of 300 wins with the New York Mets.  Glavine's come a long way.  Some may say that he is lucky.  Maybe he is, but he's a high quality left-handed pitcher.  On Sunday, August 10th, Glavine was awarded with many meaning full gifts.  Hockey Hall of Famer Rod Gilbert presented Glavine two commemorative hockey jerseys, also while the team gave him a board decorated with 300 golf balls.  Tom Glavine was also given two Sea-Doo jet skis on behalf of the team, while Lincoln-Mercury presented Glavine with the keys to a brand new Lincoln MKX luxury SUV.  Lastly, one gift Glavine was given that tops all, was the key to the city

As many do not know, before Glavine was a major league baseball player, he was playing hockey.  Tom Glavine is a very all rounded athlete.  He was drafted in the fourth round by the NHL’s L.A. Kings the same week in the second round by the Braves, but we all know which one he chose.  After the Braves offered Tom $80,000, he hung up his skates and went to pitching on the mound.  Therefore, Tom Glavine has gone down in Hall Of Fame as a 300th win, left hand pitcher in MLB.  Will he be the last?
